It was several minutes before i finished my practice, then this 91 old elderly came alone and ask to get a consultation. I helped him to enter the room and ask him to sit. Then as other elderly commonly has, he mentioned about his visual problem, he just got an operation and he complaint of having uncomfortably yet mild watery eyes. He also complaint of having a dysphagia due to her mouth ulcer, to add he also had moderate headache. And so i helped him to get up from his seat and escort him to the exam bed. He actually is a BPJS Kesehatan holder and already got examined earlier, unfortunately he said he still need a further check up, i guess a second opinion.. ? :)
I got my conclusion and explained him everything he needed to be clear about his condition, For having a conversation with a 91 yo man was not as i expected it was going to be, he was very kind and communicative and easy to laugh. He told me bout how at his age he needed to be around and have chat with younger people, like me :) and so i reply to him that at my age now, i am so looking forward to meet and talk to much much older people, like him, i said we were destined to meet each other.
And the talk continued he told me that his daughter passed away for leukemia, he and his former wife spent almost a half year in a hospital, he said once they almost gave up and took their daughter home. Being at home he said they really cherissed every moment with her. When they took her back at the hospital, certain treating doctors are amazed on how they daughter were very improved, doctors asked if he gave her alternative medicine, because her condition before was not that good. He repeated it to me, all the doctors were amazed. They asked me how come? and he said : "I just made her happy everyday"...
I felt very spirited at the moment and feel very blessed to get to see this 91 yo patient.
Be happy, laughter is the best medicine.
