This is time to take more care about your health. The only person who is responsible of your health, is you.

No one is irresisstable to health risk, becoming older is one of the most risk factor of certain non communicable disease. Getting older is a natural non modifiable risk that no one can avoid. Gender is also the same. Being a woman is exclusively put you at higher risk for getting a cancer, to mention : breast cancer. However you should not be worry because there are compensation things that you can do to overcome it. You can get older but you can also get older healthily, and also happily. 

Three elements that you have to acknowledge are :

RISK FACTOR DETECTION 

Look for each conditions or diseases' risks factor BOX, and ask your self : AM I AT RISK?

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

  • Older age

  • Race (blacks are at higher risk)

  • Family history of High blood pressure

  • Overweight or obese

  • Not physically active

  • Too much salt in diet

  • Too little vitamin D in diet

  • Smoking tobbacco

  • Too much drink of alcohol 

  • High level of stress

  • Chronic condition (kidney disease, diabetes), and being pregnant

HIGH BLOOD CHOLESTEROL

  • Older age

  • Woman, after menopause LDL level is higher

  • Family history of heart attack

  • Diet of trans-fats, saturated fats and sugar

  • Overweight or obese

  • Not physically active

TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

  • Race (blacks, hispanic, american indian, asian american) 

  • Family history of type 2 diabetes mellitus

  • Overweight or obese

  • Inactivity

STROKE

RISK FACTOR BOX

 

  • Overweight or obese

  • Physical inactivity

  • Heavy alcohol drinking

  • Use of illicit drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamines

  • High blood pressure

  • Cigarette smoking or  secondhand smoke

  • High cholesterol

  • Diabetes

  • Obstructive sleep apnea

  • Cardiovascular disease, including heart failure, heart defects, heart infection or abnormal heart rhythm

  • Personal or family history of stroke, heart attack or transient ischemic attack.

CERVICAL CANCER

  • Having an ongoing infection with a high-risk type of HPV or Sexual transmitted Infection

  • High-risk sexual behaviors or multiple sex partner.

  • Having an impaired immune (such as HIV can make you more likely to get an HPV infection)

  • Smoking cigarettes or breathing in secondhand smoke

  • Using birth control pills for a long time (five or more years)

  • Early first sexual intercourse

BREAST CANCER

  • Have not had children or give birth after 30 years of age

  • Previous breast cancer

TUBERCULOSIS 

RISK FACTOR BOX

  • All age groups are at risk

  • Smoking tobacco

  • Close contact with others who are TB infected.

  • Persons who have immigrated from areas of the world with high rates of TB

  • Living in high rates of TB transmission; homeless persons, injection drug users, hospitals

  • Having a diabetes or kidney disease

  • People with HIV/AIDS

  • Organ transplant recipients

  • Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

  • People receiving certain specialized treatments for autoimmune disorders 

LOWER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION

  • The flu

  • Poor air quality or frequent exposure to lung irritants

  • Smoking

  • Weaken immune system

  • Crowded childcare settings, which mainly affects infants

  • Asthma

  • HIV

Risk factors for severe acute lower respiratory tract infection in under-five children:

  • Lack of breast-feeding

  • Upper respiratory infection in mother

  • Upper respiratory infection in siblings

  • Severe malnutrition

  • Coooking fuel other than liquid petroleum gas,

  • Inappropriate immunization for age

COPD

  • Smoking and second hand smoke

  • Exposure and contact with harmful pollutants ; certain chemicals, fumes, dust

  • Alpha-1 Antitrypsin protein deficiency 

LUNG CANCER

CHIROSIS

  • Chronic hepatitis B
